Being Jealous does not always mean something bad. In fact, it can mean something good; and the good form of jealousy is what we are ascribing as being a part of God’s attribute.

One of the meanings of the term “Jealous” is: Wanting to protect something that you love or have because it makes you feel happy or proud.

Biblical account of Creation:

The story of God’s creation goes beyond earth. It encompasses the entire universe.

For now, think of the universe as containing all matter, energy, the solar systems, all stars and galaxies, and the contents of intergalactic space.

You may read on the solar system here

The bible, which happens to be the book of faith (since we were not present when the written events occurred) gives an account on the creation of the universe in Genesis chapter 1. God is the creator of all things and he showed this by creating the universe in six days after which he rested on the seventh day. Time and Day began its existence on the universe the very moment God spoke a word to it.

  1. On the first day, God created Light

In the beginning, when God created the universe, the earth was formless and desolate. The raging ocean that covered everything was engulfed in total darkness, and the power of God was moving over the waters. Then God commanded, “Let there be light “and light appeared.  God was pleased with what he saw. Then he separated the light from the darkness, and he named the light “Day” and the darkness “Night”. Evening passed and morning came; that was the first day

Genesis 1 : 1–5

If you read the above passage carefully, you will observe that the first created thing according to the bible was the universe. The universe was created in the very beginning and earth was inside it, although formless and void/empty. If we did a size comparison of the earth to the universe, the earth will be like a single grain of sand on a country like USA. The emptiness of the earth implies that no living creature was present on it even as it was covered with water (the raging ocean) and total darkness. The bible also recorded the power of God moving over the waters and invariably the earth since the whole earth was covered with water. At this point, God spoke a word which was a statement of command. He said,

Let there be light and light appeared immediately

We can now assume that at this point, three things existed on earth. They are:

  • Water
  • Darkness
  • Light

God himself separated the light from the darkness after which he called the light “Day” and the darkness “Night”.

The term “Day” and “Night” (or as may be interpreted in your local dialect) was coined by God according to the bible.

  1. On the second day, God created a dome (sky) that divided the water and kept it in two separate places

Then God commanded, “Let there be a dome to divide the water and to keep it in two separate places” and it was done. So God made a dome, and it separated the water under it from the water above it. He named the dome “Sky”. Evening passed and morning came; that was the second day.

Genesis 1 : 6-8

We can see that on the second day, the dome (which is the sky) came into existence on God’s command. He gave the dome the responsibility of dividing the water into two separates places. This implies that:

  • Water remained present under the dome
  • Water was present above the dome

The term “Sky” (or as may be interpreted by your local dialect) came directly from God because he named the dome sky according to the bible. So we can conclude that on the second day:

  • The sky came into existence
  • The entire region below the sky was still covered with water
  • There was water above the sky

Take a moment to think about rains and snows. Where do they fall from?

  1. On the third day, God created land and also commanded the land (earth) to produce all kinds of plant

Then God commanded, “Let the water below the sky come together in one place so that land will appear” and it was done. He named the land “Earth”, and the water which had come together he named “Sea”. And God was pleased with what he saw. Then he commanded, “Let the earth produce all kinds of plants, those that bear grain and those that bear fruit” and it was done. So the earth produced all kinds of plants, and God was pleased with what he saw. Evening passed and morning came; that was the third day.

Genesis 1: 9-13

Now the waters covering the entire region below the sky obeyed God’s command by coming together into one place which he named sea. The region below the sky that is now empty or void of water, God named the earth. Therefore, the term “Sea” and “Earth” (or as may be interpreted in your local dialect) was coined by God according to the bible. God gave another of his powerful command but this time on the earth. The earth obeyed by producing every kind of plants.

Note: God is always pleased with everything he had done. As a matter of fact, he cannot make a mistake.

Imagine this question?

What would happen to earth if God allowed the sea to overflow their banks?

All thanks to God’s mercy and love.
