Low self-esteem is not the same thing as humility. One is considered to have a low self-esteem when they constantly have a low personal reflection of their overall self worth. In this condition, such people are unable to stand for their fundamental human right.
Similarly, a child with low self-esteem will be afraid to report the evil done towards him or her to the appropriate authorities. For instance, a child with low self-esteem may be scared to report another student who bullies him or her; for fear of being beaten by the so-called bully. This is so because the bully may had initially threatened the child about the consequences of reporting his crimes.
Our words and actions are important factors that can positively or negatively affect the self-esteem of others. To this end, we must be very careful with the words we say, especially towards children and teenagers.
Note: People may use very bad and degrading words on others; and such can be potentially dangerous to overall self-esteem on the recipient of such evil words. In fact, I've read stories on people who committed suicide because of the evil words that was said at them.
Although bad and negative words can be very hurtful when used on us, we must not always dwell within them, else, they may bring down our self-esteem. Interestingly, these "bad" and "negative" words should be the reasons and catalysts why we must work hard in order achieve our dreams. Always understand that each person is simply unique including you reading this article.
Below are some steps to follow in order to overcome Low Self-esteem:
Note: We must always strive to have a healthy self-esteem because people may look up to us as their role model. Always remember that role models can positively or negatively impact the lives of others.
We must accept ourselves for who we are. In addition, we should work hard to positively change what we can about ourselves. When we become successful through the realization of our dreams, those who may have used "negative words" to describe us in the past will end up as part of those to eventually broadcast our praise.
