God's supremacy refers to His authority, superiority and power over the universe and all it contains.
Our lessons on God's supremacy will be taken from the book of first kings, chapters 16, 17, 18 and 19 respectively. This bible passages revolves around Elijah, king Ahab, Obadiah, the widow of Zarephath, the people of Isreal, Jezebel and the prophets of baal.
Below are the lessons learnt on God's supremacy from the above-mentioned bible passages:
God places great importance in His supremacy. This is reflected in His first and second commandments. They are stated below:
First Commandment: I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. You shall have no other gods before me.
Second Commandment: You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.
In light of the above commandments, God showed his supremacy over Ahab and his kingdom because he broke both commandments.

As a function of God's supremacy, He can give punishment and defeat to evil does. As an instance, the defeat of Pharaoh and his army through the parting of the red sea (by Moses) shows God's supremacy. Also, the drought brought upon Ahaz's kingdom (as a result of his sins) is a function of God's supremacy.

God can perform miracles to show his supremacy. One of such miracle is the feeding of the poor widow at Zarephath of Sidon, her son and Elijah. Other miracles include the restoration to life of the widow's son through Elijah's intersession and the fire of God which came down and consumed Elijah's sacrifice in the presence of the people.

God saves whoever he chooses as a result of His supremacy. For instance, God saved Elijah from the hands of Jezebel and prophets of baal. In fact, Jezebel and baal's prophets died disgracefully because they challenged God's supremacy.

God can choose wherever and whenever He ends His punishment. Based on our bible reference, God brought drought on Ahaz's kingdom, and chose to end it (by sending rains) when he decided to. In this regard, the drought lasted for three and half years.

God in his supremacy controls nature. We saw how he withheld rain and dew at His own discretion for over three years. During a challenge with baal's prophets, He sent fire to consume Elijah's sacrifice. Also, God reverted the law of nature when Elijah restored the life of the widow of Zarephath's son who had died from illness.

Wise men from the east came to visit the infant king. Upon their arrival, they saw the child with his mother Mary. They knelt down and worshiped the infant (Jesus).
Notice that the bible recorded that the wise men knelt down and worshipped the infant (Jesus), according to Matthew 2:11.
Only God can be worshiped. Jesus is always God, even as a baby.
It is important to state that Jesus remained God at every point in his physical existence, even when he was in the womb of the virgin; throughout his life on earth, death on the cross and eventual resurrection.
The wise men from the east opened their treasures and presented the infant Jesus with three significant gifts. These are gold, frankincense and myrrh.
Gold represents a symbol of Jesus' kingship. Jesus is the King of kings, even at birth and throughout eternity.
Frankincense represents a symbol of Jesus' divinity and a sign of worship. Only God can be worshipped; and as such, Jesus is fully God.
Myrrh represents a symbol of Jesus' death. Jesus is truly man, and this is why he was able to suffer and die on the cross.
God created human beings for the following reasons:
To know Him
To love Him
To serve Him
To be happy with Him forever
Our first parent, Adam and Eve enjoyed a life of complete happiness before they committed sin. They never knew what pain nor sorrow was until they disobeyed God. In short, both were perfect beings until they committed the sin of disobedience against God.
Disobedience may simple be defined as the failure to obey rules, command or someone in authority.
Adam and Eve were the first human beings to disobey God.

Adam and Eve were able to commit sin (disobey God's command) because God had given them that special gift of free will.

Sometimes, satan creeps into one's life by asking simple questions. Notice that the snake (satan) did exactly this when it approached Eve to tempt her. To this end, we need to be at alert prayerfully because the evil one can tempt any human in any situation, place and at any point in time

The attributes of God will aid us to better understand who God is. It is important to state that no one has a complete knowledge of God's attributes.
Jesus is the true image of the unseen God and he shares completely all the attributes of God. Those who were with Jesus in his time saw the attributes of God in him according to how he acted, loved and forgave.
Fortunately, we have all experienced one attribute of God or another in our daily lives. Infact, you are alive today (and able to read this write-up) simply because of the attributes of God resting upon you.
