A swamp forest can simply be regarded as a wetland dominated by woody trees and a variety of animals. Swamp forests may also be referred to as flooded forests.
Note: Swamp Forest is one of the biomes alongside tropical rainforests, savanna, deserts and montane forests
A biome refers to the largest natural community of different organisms living and interacting together in the same environment.
The variety of organisms that make up a biome are referred to as the biotic community. The biotic community found in one biome (swamp forest for instance) will be quite different from those found in another biome, for example savanna.
Swamp forests are found all around the world especially in the tropical region (tropics) and along the coastal regions (or regions containing water sources like rivers, seas, springs and lakes). These regions will usually have a poor drainage system accompanied with enough water supply (usually via rainfall and surrounding water bodies).
Please read on Desert Biome here.
Although swamp forests and marshlands have got a significant amount of water on their soils, both are not particularly the same, especially in regards to their type of vegetation. The vegetations of swamp forest are usually dominated by trees (including mangrove) while a marshland will largely consist of grasses and herbaceous plants.
Think of mangrove as a tropical tree that grows in swampy or waterlogged or tidal swamp areas with their tangled roots located above ground. The mangrove trees typically make up a significant amount of tropical rainforests and swamp forests vegetation.
The image below shows a swamp forest alongside its mangrove vegetation. (Notice the nature of roots possessed by these trees):
Please read on the Characteristics of Swamp Forests here.
Note: The term forest is always associated with trees. For this reason, swamp forest is characterized with trees (and a waterlogged soil). A river present within valleys will likely have swamp forests along both of its sides.
In Africa, swamps are present along the river mouths in South, West and East Africa respectively.
Within Nigeria, they are found in Niger Delta states like (Rivers, Delta, Edo, Akwa-Ibom, Cross River and Bayelsa). They are also abundant in South West states like Lagos, Ogun and Ondo states respectively.

Amazing facts in Biology
Armadillos are western mammals known for their unique armor-like shell which are bulletproof
Although 🦓 zebras 🦓 are known for their characteristics black and white stripes, we still have some polka-dotted zebras
Charles Darwin is a British naturalist and biologist who contributed greatly into the study of evolution. According to research, he frequently ate the animals he studied
Lungs are the only human organ that can float on water
Unlike most 🐍 snakes 🐍 that lay eggs, anacondas give birth to live babies
A 🦐 shrimp's 🦐 heart is in its head
Women have more pain receptors than men
It's crucial you finish your antibiotics.
If you stop taking your antibiotics before you're supposed to, any bacteria that didn't get killed can develop an immunity to that antibiotic and become a super-strain, making it much difficult to kill in the future. So keep taking your antibiotics pill, even if you feel better.
Although rare, women can still give birth when they die. This is known as coffin birth
Men can actually get aroused post moterm. This is called priapism
NOTABLE POINTS IN Biology
For a thing to be considered Living, it must possess all the Basic Characteristics of Life. These include:
Movement
Respiration
Nutrition
Irritability or Sensitivity
Growth
Excretion
Reproduction
Death
Adaptation
Competition
Please read the explanations on all the Basic Characteristics of Life here
During strenuous exercises like sprinting or 🏃 running, your body may actually work in the shortage of oxygen. During this time, your body owes oxygen (called oxygen debt) and it must be replenished or repayed after the exercise is stopped. This is why you breathe excess of oxygen after you stopped the exercise.
This is the concept of anaerobic respiration
A food Chain is a diagram that shows the relationship between plants and animals within a habitat on the basis of how they rely on each other for food.
Note: Habitat is a place where an organism live. It is of three types:
The term Biology originated from two Greek words. They are:
Biology can therefore be defined is the study of life
Anything that has life is generally considered as a living organism (or organism) 🌱🐐🐓. All living organisms must be able to carry the following activities:
The above listed points are often regarded as the basic characteristics of life. You can memorize them using the acronym (MR. NIGER DAC).

The gas used in the manufacture of food by plants is Carbon dioxide or Carbon(IV)oxide or CO2
Plants manufacture food through a process called photosynthesis.
Please read on photosynthesis here
Note: Plants are the only orgnisms that take away CO2 from the atmosphere
