Safety precaution is defined as written guidelines or measures taken to prevent accidents during the daily activities of humans. Simply put, safety precautions involves are proactive measures, actions, or procedures taken in advance (in order to) prevent accidents, injuries, damage, or harm to individuals and property.
Safety precautions focuses on identifying potential risks and hazards, and subsequently implementing controls, such as following specific protocols, or wearing protective gadgets to create and maintain a secure environment.
In this topic, we will look at the safety precautions for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.
Please read on safety devices here.
A pedestrian refers to a person walking on the road, especially in an area used by vehicle. Simply put, a pedestrian travels through traffic on foot by walking, running, or using mobility assistance like wheelchairs and clutches. The term 'pedestrian' distinguishes motorist and cyclists in an area with traffic.
You can read on the characteristics of living things in basic science here.
The following are precautions to be taken by pedestrians:
Pedestrians should use the pavement or footpath where provided.
Pedestrians should walk on the side of the road facing on-coming traffic, if there is no pavement or sidewalk.
The pedestrian should observe carefully before crossing the road. In this regard, they should look left, right, then left again, to ensure that the road is safe and clear before crossing.
Pedestrians should use pedestrian crossing, zebra crossing, traffic light, subway or foot bridges where provided.
Pedestrians should wait at traffic light crossing with push buttons, press the button, and wait for the signal to cross.
Pedestrians should wear bright colored outfits during the day and reflective materials at night, especially in low-light conditions to enhance visibility and awareness.
Pedestrians should avoid using phones, texting, or wearing headphones while crossing streets.
Pedestrians should watch for turning vehicles and cars backing out of driveways or parking spots.
Pedestrians should walk in well-lit areas. They should walk with flashlights when in dark areas.
Cyclists should wear bright colored outfits during the day and reflective materials at night, especially in low-light conditions to enhance visibility and awareness by pedestrians.
Please read on technology here.
A cyclist is one who rides bicycle, unicycle, or other similar pedal-driven vehicle. They can be commuters, recreational riders, or athletes.
The following are precautions to be taken by a cyclist.
Bicycles and unicycle are not allowed on the highway.
Ensure your bicycle is in good condition before riding. In this regard, make sure that the brakes, pedals and tyres are in good and effective working conditions.
Do not carry a passenger unless your bicycle has been built for that.
Cyclists should not ride too close to a vehicle.
Where there is cycle path, cyclists must use it.
Cyclists should use a white front light and red rear light/reflector, especially at night or in low light.
Wear a snugly fitted helmet on every ride to reduce head injury risk by 65–88%.
Cyclists should obey traffic sign. They should stop at red lights, and follow lane markings.
Cyclists should not use headphones, bluetooth devices and mobile phones while cycling.
Cyclists should signal their intentions before turning or stopping.
You can read on family health here.
A motorcyclist is a person that rides a two wheel vehicle or a tricycle powered by an engine.
The following are precautions to be taken by a motorcyclist:
The motorcyclist should ensure that his or her motorcycle is in good condition before taking off.
He or she should wear a smart and bright coloured clothing.
He or she should use safety helmet, thick gloves and riding boots.
The motorcyclist should not squeeze between vehicles.
The motorcyclist should not carry more than one passenger.
He or she should make good use of rare view/wind view mirrors while riding.
The motorcyclist should keep within the safe speed limits for safety.
The motorcyclist must not ride under the influence of drugs.
Please read on the classification and Abuse of drugs here.
A motorist is defined as a person who drives (driver) or travels (passengers) in a motor vehicle or a car. Most often, the term 'motorist' is primarily used to describe the driver (that is; the person operating a vehicle).
Please read on the means and mode of transportation here.
The following are safety precautions to be taken by a motorist:
Do not drive a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
Do not use roads that are under reconstruction.
Drive a vehicle with projected load. In this regard, do not overload the vehicle.
Do not drive a car without driver's license, vehcile license, road worthiness, insurance, and other important documents.
Do not drive a car with cracked windscreen. Also, avoid driving cars without appropriate side mirror, or its camera equivalent.
Do not drive a car without spare tyre, fire extinguisher, wheel spanner, wheel jack, and other necessary instruments.
Use seat belt while driving.
Do not drive a car that emits excessive smoke.
Do not make or receive phone calls while driving. Also, do not text and drive.
Do not drive if you are underage. You must be 18 years and above before driving.
Do not drive a car when you are depressed, or not emotionally stable.
Avoid overspeeding at all cost. Do not be in a hurry when driving.
Give notification (by horning), and appropriate space when overtaking.
Avoid any form of distraction when driving, including excessive talking with the passengers.
Always use your side mirrors when driving.
Above all, obey all traffic rules.

Amazing facts in Basic Science
According to scientific research, if the first tear drop comes from the right eye, it’s tears of joy. If it comes from the left eye, then it is as a result of pain
Dentistry is the oldest profession in the world. This is considered true because a research conducted by the University of Bologna, Italy on a 14,000-year-old skull found that one rotten tooth in the jaw had been deliberately scoured and scraped with a dental tool
Scientific research has it that the human nose can distinguish more than a trillion different odors

Tigers have striped fur. So also is their skin

The most common wild bird in the world is native to Africa, and it's the red-billed quelea with a population estimated to be around 1.5 billion
Of all animals, mosquitoes hold the record of killing most humans annually. They are responsible for the deaths of 725,000 - 1,000,000 persons yearly
Antibiotics fights and kills bacteria. However, they do nothing to a virus
All insects have six legs. However, dragonfly has six legs but can't walk
The chin is defined as the protruding part of the face below the mouth, formed by the apex of the lower lip. It is shown below:

Interestingly, humans are the only animals with chin

Ripe cranberries will bounce like a ball. For this reason, they are nicknamed 'bounceberries'. They will also float in water
Notable points in Basic Science
We have six classes of food. These are:
Carbohydrates
Proteins
Fats and Oils
Vitamins
Mineral Salts
Water
In humans, roughages are not classified as one of the classes of food. This is so because they aren't digested. Instead, roughages facilitate the movement of bowels in the large intestine (colon); and for this reason, they can become useful in treating constipation.
Food refers to anything that is ingested by living organisms, giving them nutrients and thus enabling them to stay alive.
As an instance, 99% of a panda's diet is bamboo. In this case, bamboo is considered as food to a panda since it provides a source of nutrient and keeps it alive. This is shown in the image below:

The only process in nature that actively enriches our atmosphere with oxygen is photosynthesis. Every other process like respiration, burning and combustion takes away oxygen from it. In addition, they introduce carbon(IV)oxide (CO2) into the atmosphere.
Photosynthesis is also the only process that takes away carbon(IV)oxide (CO2) from the atmosphere.
Photosynthesis is defined as a process by which green plants manufacture food by utilizing carbon(IV)oxide and water in the presence of sunlight.
Oxygen is given off as a by-product of photosynthesis. In regards to this, it is recommended that each person plants a tree.
Matter is composed of particles which can be:
Tightly packed together (as seen in solids).
Loosely packed together (as seen in liquids).
Completely separated (as seen in gases).
The movement of the particles of matter is a function of the overall kinetic energy present in them. You can think of kinetic energy as energy in motion.
An increase in the particles' vibrational, rotational or translational motion will imply an increase in temperature while a decrease in the particles motion (vibrational, rotational and translational) will mean a decrease in temperature. Based on this knowledge, we can therefore define temperature as the measure of the average kinetic energy possessed by the particles of matter.
Intelligence Quotient (IQ) is a score derived from a set of standardized tests developed to measure a person's cognitive abilities in relation to their age group.
IQ may also be defined as the ratio of mental age (MA) to chronological age (CA) multiplied by 100.
Below are some formulas pertaining Intelligence Quotient:
IQ = MA x 100 ÷ CA
MA = Mental age
CA = Chronological age
IQ above 100 = Brilliance
IQ that equals 100 = Average
IQ below 100 = Below Average
